regional profile

In the heart of the US oil capital, our Houston headquarters enable us to work closely with our customers to deliver a range of training solutions across the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean in the areas of Health & Safety, Survival, Critical Incident Management Training, Marine and Well Services.

In May 2008 Petrofac Training opened the first training centre of its kind in Houston. The centre includes a state-of-the-art Critical Incident Management Training (CIMT) simulator together with observation and teaching rooms. It is fully equipped with IT and audio-visual facilities which can recreate emergency scenarios in order to train managers and their teams to deal with crisis situations. Such simulated scenarios can range from a false alarm through to a full-scale abandonment of an installation and the courses ensure that both individuals and organisations are prepared in the event of a major emergency.

In our Trinidad and Lafayette facilities we have bespoke emergency management simulators fully equipped with IT and audiovisual capabilities to recreate emergency scenarios to train managers and their teams to deal with emergency situations.

Across the Gulf of Mexico we have two training facilities offering a range of survival training courses. In partnership with the University of Lafayette, with their training arm, the Marine Survival Training Center (MSTC), we provide the Petrofac Training curriculum in BOSIET and FOET courses complete with accreditations for US personnel wishing to work in the UKCS. Together with MSTC, we also offer a range of marine training courses accredited to USCG and STCW standards.

In 2006, Petrofac Training and the Shell Robert Training Centre in Robert, Louisiana, formed a relationship, which resulted in personnel from Petrofac Training's US operations providing Shell's own Water Survival course from the Robert center. Shell has introduced the course as a compulsory requirement for all of its own personnel and all contractors who visit Shell installations in the Gulf of Mexico more than three times in any one year and the course is managed and run by Petrofac Training incorporating our expertise in the challenging HUET drills and exercises.

In addition to the provision of training courses, we provide a range of consultancy services, and have recently implemented and managed a training function for a key operator in the Gulf of Mexico. The project included the development of a training strategy, establishment of procedures and standards, and the management of all aspects of training from identifying training needs to the administration management of training requests.

Led by Regional Manager, Daryl Brister, our dedicated team comprises highly experienced instructors and safety professionals, technical authors, and a focused business development team; all committed to providing the highest levels of service to our customers.
