New Petrofac appointments

Petrofac, the international oil & gas service provider, announces two new management appointments effective 1 May. Murray Strachan is appointed chief of staff for Petrofac Operations Services, the division which encompasses Petrofac Training and Petrofac Facilities Management; Leigh Howarth is appointed managing director of Petrofac Training.

In his new role, based in Aberdeen, Strachan will lead the integrated provision of internal support services across Petrofac Operations Services following several acquisitions, significant organic growth and the entry of the division into a number of new countries.

“As we continue to grow we intend to ensure that our internal support services are consistent, cost-effective and efficient, to keep our customer-facing services at the leading edge", noted Strachan.

Howarth, recently Petrofac's group financial controller and a ten-year veteran of the firm, relocates to Aberdeen from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Howarth said: “The global shortage of trained personnel is one of the key issues facing our industry and Petrofac Training is well-placed to respond to this challenge. While the UK will remain a core element of our business, opportunities with both national and international oil companies offer significant potential for growth. I look forward to building on the achievements of Murray and his team in addressing these markets."
