response services

Our response services range from the provision of specialist responders, through to the set-up and management of bespoke response facilities.

We provide specialist and local responders to mobilise into customer's facilities to support in-house teams in specific areas related to incident response. This may include the provision of a team to receive evacuees and help manage an evacuee reception centre.

Petrofac Training can also provide dedicated response teams or responders to work with customers in remote or site-specific locations, to enable them to provide first on scene responder service where the customer requires it.

On the remote Shetland Isles in Scotland, we provide a 24/7 responder service to ensure that offshore personnel receive a competent and efficient response whilst located there. A pool of fully trained personnel are available on an 'on call' basis to provide a swift response to fulfil a Company Representative role, liaising with and supporting personnel.

  • Emergency Response Service Centre (ERSC)
Petrofac Training pioneered the concept of an integrated Emergency Response Service Centre (ERSC) and in early 2006 made this a reality for the UKCS, with the opening of the first integrated ERSC providing immediate and effective response support to North Sea operations in the event of an emergency situation.

The ERSC, which is at a constant state of readiness, provides a complete emergency response solution for a number of operators in the UKCS, and offers 24/7 emergency response support and a pool of specialist responders. The centre features robust and resilient state of the art IT and telecommunications equipment.

The ERSC in the UK is strategically located at Aberdeen harbour enabling the response team to work closely with the emergency services, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, industry regulators and other agencies.

In its first year of operation the centre responded to 27 emergency calls and successfully handled six emergency situations.
In addition to responding to live incidents the centre is used for all levels of training ranging from Emergency Response induction training to role specific training for individuals and team members.

An essential part of maintaining a “state of readiness" for the facility and staff is a comprehensive training regime and the ERSC and responders have been involved in numerous and varied simulated exercises. Theses exercises confirm the ability to respond effectively to every aspect of an emergency, from getting logistic support to the affected installation, to dealing with relatives and media. Some exercises have involved oil spill contingency incidents including interfacing with the Secretary of State's Representative (SOSREP) and other Government agencies.

The concept on the ERSC is one which we believe can be replicated in other key oil & gas provinces, and we are currently assessing a number of opportunities to build further ERSC facilities.

  • BP Response Service - Dyce Control Room (DCR)

We also provide a dedicated response service working in-house at our customer's operations. In Aberdeen we provide this emergency response service for BP where our team who are based within the BP Dyce Control Room (DCR), provides a 24/7 emergency response service.

The DCR operators work in accordance with the expectations of BP, with specific attention given to compliance with BP routines and procedures.

  • Travel Safe

Petrofac Training has recently developed and launched a web based travel system for tracking and monitoring company personnel when travelling overseas on business.

‘Travel safe' provides a 24-hour, real time monitoring service 365 days a year. It is designed to keep track of employee movements when traveling in order to ensure that the employee has a way of staying in contact with the company overseas particularly out with working hours. Key features of the service also include the provision of country specific briefings to employees and practical advice and tips on safety and security. The service is managed through the Emergency Response Service Centre (ERSC) in Aberdeen, with trained Travel Safe Operators from within the ERSC responsible for administering and monitoring personnel registered on the system.
