Petrofac supports local charity with environmental project

9 July 2009

Petrofac’s Training Services business, a leading provider of competence-led training and consultancy solutions to the global energy industry, is continuing its efforts to support local charity, Milltown Community, by providing the resources and equipment to advance the charity’s growth and sale of plants and flowers.

Milltown Community, which provides a home and working environment for adults with special needs, will benefit from Petrofac’s donation of a watertank and irrigation system, which will help the charity to develop its plant and flower growing capacity within its greenhouse. The new water system will also provide a long-term environmental benefit, as the system collects water from the greenhouse roof in a tank which is then transferred back into the greenhouse to be reused. In keeping with Training Services’ mission to minimise risk, protective work clothing has also been donated to help ensure safety and welfare.

A key element of Milltown Community’s success has been the strong relationships the charity has built with local residents through the services it provides. By fostering a long-term partnership, Milltown Community and Petrofac can help to improve and expand the charity’s services further.

Regional director - Europe and The Americas, Training Services, Mike Comerford said: “Providing long-term sustainable solutions within the areas we operate is an important aspect of our objective to build strong relationships within our local community. It is fantastic that we have been able to provide Milltown Community with the necessary support to enable the charity to sustain its plant-selling projects.

“Petrofac understands the importance of giving proper consideration to protecting the environment. Through the donation of the watertank and irrigation system, we hope to raise awareness of the benefits of an environmental system such as this in the community, while supporting Milltown with a sustainable project.”
