Petrofac Training Services (PTS) has been shortlisted for a global accolade by OPITO, the oil and gas industry’s focal point for skills, training and workforce development.

OPITO ‘s Annual Global Oil and Gas Workforce Safety Awards will take place at its Safety and Competency Conference on Tuesday 3rd November, at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

PTS is up against Brunei-based Megamas and PT Samson Tiara from Indonesia for the Training Provider of the Year award.

PTS established a five year HSEQ strategy to drive health, safety and environmental improvement in line with OPITO standards.

It also developed a Competent Person Profile programme to ensure staff skills and behaviours meet the required competencies needed to deliver OPITO courses.

The programme is currently being delivered at the Altens Survival Training Centre in Aberdeen and will be rolled out to other training centres for fire and marine training.

PTS Regional Director, Gordon Caird, said: “This is a proud moment for us. We work hard to go beyond compliance in all of the training we provide. To be considered for an award by OPITO – whose high standards we work towards – is testament to the great work our people do every day.”
