OPITO Approval for Hi-Con Survival Training coming soon

14 March 2012

Beginning April 16, 2012, OPITO-approved BOSIET and FOET will be available as part of our Hi-Con survival training offering at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC).

  • The three-day Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) course equips participants with the knowledge and skills relevant to travelling offshore by helicopter and working in an offshore environment.
  • The one-day Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) course is a BOSIET refresher.

Petrofac remains committed to supporting the training needs of the oil & gas industry, in the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. In response to growing demand for quality survival training, we are in the final stages of the OPITO audit process to deliver BOSIET and FOET training to this internationally recognized standard.

Our high consequence training courses at the JSC are delivered under the banner of the Hi-Con Training Program. This type of behavioural-based training imparts the high confidence and control that is vital in effectively dealing with emergency situations. Our experienced instructors empower trainees with the knowledge and skills to act when it counts.

NASA’s underwater training facility, which was originally designed to support space-walk planning, testing and training, is the most advanced in the world. A portion of this 6.2 million gallon, 40-foot deep pool is now available to deliver Hi-Con survival training to the oil & gas industry. The immense scale of the pool is matched by its technological sophistication and enables highly realistic emergency simulations.

Petrofac Training Services and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC, who manages NASA’s underwater training facility, have partnered to deliver Hi-Con Training. This unique partnership between two of the world’s leading training providers, coupled with the operational excellence at NASA’s facility, leverages the best practices of each company’s cutting-edge safety culture and offers a center of excellence for survival and safety training that redefines exceptional quality performance.
