BP Houma Operations Learning Centre

Supporting safety and technical training needs

Schriever, Louisiana, USA

Petrofac Training Services has been working with BP’s Gulf of Mexico (GoM) Organizational Capability function since 2007.

Our role is to support the development, delivery, administration and management of training and competence programmes in GoM. We also support operations at the BP Houma Operations Learning Center (HOLC), which opened in 2009.

Our instructors cover all aspects of safety training at HOLC, from offshore orientation to major emergency management. Curricula used at the facility may receive input from our subject matter experts – for example, the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Control Room Operator training.

To support technical training and competence assurance, our team of experts designed, built and installed a customised dynamic process skid in 2010. Delegates can practise a range of skills on the actual size simulator, which replicates control and instrumentation systems used offshore.

Behind the scenes, our dedicated administration team supports the management of all of BP’s training requirements in GoM.
