history
Petrofac Training brings together the collective knowledge, the people and the know-how of RGIT Montrose and Rubicon Response under a single name.
Established in the UK almost 30 years ago, our roots are firmly established in oil & gas operations as the organisation that created the benchmark and standards for offshore safety training to meet the growing needs of the offshore population. The company's history dates back to 1979 when the forerunners of RGIT Montrose were created by industry for industry to develop and deliver safety, survival, and fire training for offshore personnel and at that time set the standards for this type of training provision.
Petrofac Training was created by the acquisition of RGIT Montrose by total facilities solutions provider, Petrofac in 2004. In 2005 Petrofac Training's capabilities were strengthened with the acquisition of specialist emergency response and crisis management provider, Rubicon Response to offer a range of training and consultancy for high-risk industries, including the oil & gas industry.
With an extensive portfolio in safety and emergency response, in 2006 Petrofac Training acquired the PKT and PCI companies from the PPS group to enhance our technical, operations and maintenance capability, giving Petrofac Training a presence in one of the most significant oil & gas developments in the world today, Sakhalin Island.
For the last three years the company has offered its products and services in alignment with these brands, but is now known simply as Petrofac Training.
